The
seventh and youngest child of David and Rosanna Moore Claxton.
Born:
1843 in <Bedford Co., TN>
Died:
1860s in <Bedford Co., TN>
Buried:
Jones Cemetery in Bedford Co., TN
Never
Married According
to Marvin Claxton and the Bedford Co., TN census records, Emaline
never married and lived her whole life with her mother Rosanna. The
last known record of Emaline was the 1860 Bedford Co census. This
indicates she died in the 1860s around the age of 17-25.
In
Descendants
of David Claxton,
Marvin Claxton states the following:
…She
(Rosanah) and her daughter Emmaline are buried in the Jones Cemetery
as listed in the Marsh Record of Bedford County Cemeteries, one and
one half miles southeast of Hickory Hill Church. The cemetery is
about a half mile off the Unionville highway on Dunnaway Road, just
back of the farm of Glenn Fisher (1982). I had the priviledge of
going to the cemetery with my father, Murry Claxton, many times. The
grave of Rosanah is not marked but there is a field stone with the
inscription – S. E. Claxton- embedded in a tree on the grave of
Emmaline’s.
Marvin
states later…There
is a limestone rock with the inscription “S. E. Claxton”
marking her grave.
According to family sources who live in the area, the inscripted rock can no longer be found in the cemetery. Next to her grave, however, is Rosanna’s headstone that was placed there by Marvin.
