in presenting this
information about the family of David C. Claxton and his children.
Many individuals shared either their time, experience, knowledge,
advice, and/or, family information with me in this major task.
Without some of them you would not be reading this now. Most likely
all of this family information would be filed away and/or stuck away
in a three ring binder somewhere.
First,
I thank my wife, Julia Brittain, with over 50 years of experience in
genealogy. A crash course in genealogy with me was a major
challenge. Her assistance, support and guidance was unlimited. In
addition, her skill in proofreading found many of my errors.
Next,
my thanks to Tommy and Mary Ann Claxton of Buchanan, TN. Tommy for
encouraging me to use the technology of a CD in lieu of a book plus
the sharing of his extended Claxton research. A special "thank
you" to Mary Ann for working endless hours in the making of this
CD. She, enthusiastically, took on the task of transferring and
linking the text, articles, and photos to the correct format to
create this CD. She also created the index. I also thank Dorothy
Fisher Sadler of Shelbyville, TN, a Claxton cousin, who first put me
on the right trail in Bedford Co., TN and shared her information and
photos. She also introduced me to Marvin Claxton's work in the
Descendants of David
Claxton.
